The trouble with motivation

So the problem I tend to hear about the most from people is that they know what they need to do but can't get motivated to do it so they do nothing in hopes that they will just magically wake up motivated one day. Life just doesn't work that way. Taking action even when you don't know where to start or don't want to start, that is how motivation is created. 

I was a student for 8 months straight about 5 hours a day, which I know is nothing to most people but I was a single mom for half of that time while also teaching classes and training clients. It was a lot for me. Training and eating properly fell to the wayside in that time. I know right, what a hypocrite.

 I knew what the problem was and what the solution was yet I couldn't seem to make myself motivated enough to follow through. It wasn't until I woke up one morning and decided to just go downstairs and lift heavy things even though I didn't eat well that day or have my fish oil. Guess what happened then. I trained hard and it made me thirsty, so I drank enough water that day. I didn't want to be sore the next day, so I took my fish oil. After working so hard I didn't want to fill my body with junk, so I ate really well for the rest of the day.

You see, motivation doesn't make things happen; motivation is what happens when you get up and do something, anything. So here's my advice stop waiting around hoping you will magically wake up motivated one day and everything will be easy then. Decide to do one small thing today even if you don't want to. I promise it will start a snowball effect and after a while everything else you know you should be doing will eventually happen naturally. Because the secret to really successful people is that they are rarely motivated to do the things that make them successful they just decide to do that one small thing every morning because they know that's all it takes most days.
